Hands-On Sci­ence Pro­fes­sional Staff Devel­op­ment Workshops:

Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski offers half-day, full-day work­shops, and exten­sive multiple-day insti­tutes for indi­vid­ual schools and dis­tricts. Dur­ing these work­shops par­tic­i­pants can expect to increase con­tent knowl­edge and be intro­duced to new and effec­tive meth­ods of teach­ing sci­ence con­cepts to their stu­dents in an atmos­phere that is highly inter­ac­tive, engag­ing, and excit­ing. Full-day work­shops and multiple-day insti­tutes allow teach­ers to be exposed to a greater depth of con­tent knowl­edge in addi­tion to being intro­duced to effec­tive teach­ing prac­tices and ideas. All of the hands-on-minds-on sci­ence work­shops are standards-based, using the New World-Class Sci­ence Stan­dards. Addi­tion­ally, all the work­shops empha­size The Prac­tice of Sci­ence, The Char­ac­ter­is­tics of Sci­en­tific Knowl­edge, and The Role of The­o­ries, Laws, Hypothe­ses, and Mod­els.

It’s sug­gested that work­shops be sched­uled for spe­cific audi­ences (K-2, 3–5, 6–8, & 9–12). How­ever, mul­ti­ple grade lev­els can be com­bined to accom­mo­date time and bud­get constraints.

Fam­ily Sci­ence Workshops:

Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski has pro­vided over 100 Fam­ily Sci­ence Work­shops reach­ing over 5,000 fam­i­lies. Fam­ily Sci­ence work­shops allow par­ents and chil­dren to actively explore sci­ence con­cepts together via a hands-on-minds-on inquiry-based approach. Work­shops are 2 hours in length, and avail­able on week­nights and week­ends. In addi­tion, school dis­tricts can hire Diana to con­duct length­ier pro­fes­sional staff devel­op­ment fam­ily sci­ence work­shops to train teach­ers, admin­is­tra­tors, and par­ents to con­duct fam­ily sci­ence work­shops within their own schools and dis­tricts. Fam­ily Sci­ence work­shops are also avail­able for par­ents only if an indi­vid­ual school or dis­trict chooses.

Hands-On Sci­ence Pro­grams For Stu­dents:

Dur­ing the past 25 years Diana has con­ducted over 12,000 hands-on sci­ence pro­grams to stu­dents of all ages at both pub­lic and pri­vate schools. The hands-on sci­ence pro­grams are standards-based, engag­ing, and most of all excit­ing. Diana offers over 60 dif­fer­ent hands-on sci­ence pro­grams that cor­re­late to the New World-Class Sci­ence Stan­dards, cov­er­ing all areas of sci­ence from explor­ing The Nature of Mat­ter to explor­ing Life Sci­ence con­cepts. Many of Diana’s clients sched­ule her to con­duct stu­dent pro­grams in addi­tion to the pro­fes­sional staff devel­op­ment work­shops. This enables teach­ers to observe Diana mod­el­ing meth­ods and ideas intro­duced dur­ing the work­shops in a “real class­room set­ting.”
